General Advice:

DO:

1.Be patient with yourself

2.Try various types of yogas and instructors

3.What feels good to you

DON’T:

1.think you will master it in one class

2.give it one try and quit

3.try to look like everyone else in class

YOGA POSES

CHAIR:

Do not:

Make your knees go past your toes

Squat with hips below your knees

Do:

Sit back like you are sitting in a chair

Feel your quads and hamstrings engages

Tighten your core and lengthen your back

WARRIOR 1

Do not:

Have knees past toes

Keep your stance narrow

Do:

Stand tall and tuck your hips to lengthen your back

Ground yourself into the mat; feel connected to the floor

Engage your core as your starting point

BOAT

Do not:

Round your shoulders

Look up

Do:

Sit tall

Modify with one leg as needed

Engage your core and back

Feel your back get taller as you lengthen

SAVASANA:

Do not:

Talk

Move around

Start thinking about what you are doing next

Do:

Focus on breath

Focus on being in that space

Focus on relaxing and sealing your practice
